The plants we saw

There are around 30 species of orchid to be found in the region.
We didn't find them all but we had a good bash at it!

Monkey orchid (Orchis simia)

OK, I think it's a greater butterfly orchid (Platanthera chlorantha),but if it isn't,
it's a lesser butterfly orchid (Platanthera bifolia)

Lady orchid (Orchis purpurea)

Bee orchid (Ophrys apiphera)

Thyme broomrape (Orobanche alba)

Dwarf thistle (Cirsium acaule)

Lizard orchid (Himantoglossum hircinum)

Now this looks like bedstraw broomrape (Orobanche caryophyllacea) (which is very rare in Britain)
however it was growing on wild thyme so it may be thyme broomrape (Orobanche alba)

Wild thyme (Thymus polytrichus) was growing in the meadows. We also found mint and garlic.
